LMGTFY
Blueray is the media, why do you need to convert files to burn to it ? You can burn any file to a DVD or CDR as long as it fits on it, it's just the capacity that is going up.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

i mean like, if you download an avi file, you need to convert it to a dvd file before burning to disc by using any number of programs.

do you need to do the same with blu-ray

If you are creating a BD movie disc you will need different software as a BD movie has a different file structure to a DVD movie. This bieng said im sure the newest version of nero caters for them

Can I ask why you are putting an AVI onto a blue ray?

not putting avi onto bluray i was just using that as an example. avi ---> dvd, bluray ---> straight to disc ????

additional question then, can you convert a dvd or avi file into a bluray media file?

You could, but I can't imagine many scenarios where this would be useful unless you have a very high bit rate media file that's been ripped from a bluray to start with?
