Is it Vista?

If so I have the master build DVD release but it'll need your own COA from the bottom of the laptop?

NO forgot to say that it would have been XP on this machine possible XP SP 1 or SP2.

I tired using my genuine XP SP3 CD and it failed (BSOD) before it got to the part asking where you want to install (ie. what partition/drive etc)..

Anyone got a GHOST IMAGE.... I have the COD & CD keys etc.

might be worth going into the BIOS and having a look at the SATA configuration
(I am assuming the replaced drive was SATA)

Setting it to "legacy IDE" or whatever wording it uses on that BIOS will more than likely solve the BSOD issues and allow you to install XP from your disk :-)

Regards
Rob
