just turn your screen upside down, or do a handstand when watching.
Easiest thing is to show your other half how to use her phone LOL
Life is like a bowl of fruit, funny how all the weird looking ones are left alone

you can do it in iMovie very easily by selecting edit project, then click the movie and then 'command + A' on the keyboard so that it has
a yellow border, click on the icon in the bottom left that looks like a cog then 'crop' and in the preview window there are rotating
arrows to rotate through 90 degree increments.
Easy
Don't know if you are a mac though?

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

How about converting the file into a format that is suitable for windows movie maker first?

Movie Maker will certainly do it if you can get the video in.
My phone does MP4 video, which is not a supported video format so doesn't appear on the list of files to import by default.
However !!
Change the file types within the import window to all and it will indeed show all files. Bingo, import your file, drag onto the time line, rotate
it.
Done.
