Computer wont start up

Just got back off holiday, turned my computer on and all I get is the inital BIOS page up, then it hangs and wont load windows. it won't even do anything when I hit the usual Esc, Del, Enter or any other buttons.

The keyboard is wired in, so no problems there.

What should I be checking first? Presumably check all the cables inside and outside and seated properly? Anything else I can do?

Can you actually access the BIOS settings? Restore it to factory default if you can and give it another go

Your bios battery has probably died losing your bios settings.
Change the battery on your motherboard then you need to change the order of your boot options to point at your hardrive first.

Easier to do than explain!

The motherboard is only 2 months old, so not likely to be the battery, but I've got spare so I'll swap it over.

And no, I can't access any of the BIOS setting at all, doesn't matter what keys I press.

Unplug all the usb devices and keyboard & mouse ans see what happens.

If you have a USB keyboard try an old fashioned ATX keyboard if you have a socket that might let you into the bios.
