considering moving from BT (phone line) to Talk Talk (phone + broadband).

anyone had experiences of doing that - good and bad ones - they wish to share?

My Dad went with them and although the free calls to other talk-talk customers is good for him to phone my sister in Ireland, the rest of it is c**p!
The broadband took hours to set up and then horrendously slow once working. Whenever I phone him it cuts off after 6 rings but charges me for the call. Apparently its an answer service that he doesn't have switched on??? Thier help line is also useless.

We have been with TalkTalk for 5 years or so, as are a number of our family.

We are currently getting 6.5 meg of our upto 8meg speed, and approx 1 mile from the exchange.

Never had issue with either phone or broadband. So my experience and families are all good.

Changed over to them five years ago. Had a seemless crossover and no trouble since. However, Sky have the best package deal if you have their tv.

very cheap. broad band reliability issues. 18 or 24 months contract. you get what you pay for. best broad band is probably BE according to a computer engineer (geek) i know.

We joined TT last year and have had no problems. You can upgrade your speed for free if up to 20mbps is available in your area. We get 18.5mbps from some sites.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

broadband pants, phone was ok and cheap. They are an absolute nightmare for customer service for me.

I would look at O2, they have some cracking packages with home phone now. The broadband setup was really easy, they have Genuine fast speeds and you talk a helpful human being when you need to.

ha ha? be there. no nonsense, reliable, high speed (area dependent i guess) internet designed for gamers. internet speeds are dependent on many things, amongst them priority over other internet traffic, which is why business broad band is often much better than common all garden home broad band, this is known as contention rate, broadband focused providers who are not selling packages for telephone and or television, often provide better speed / and or reliability.

if i changed tomorrow i would get a bt phone line or 02 if they would do it, and get a focused broad band package, however i'm a geek and my misses likes to stream films whilst i'm trying to shoot people.

When it was Tiscali I could not fault them but since Talk Talk took over they have gone down the pan. They are now pulling "call sign" from the features they want to support.
Prices keep rising since they took over..

I'm looking elswhere....... Suggest you stay well clear.

Had them a few years ago, nothing any better or worse than most of the rest until there was a problem with connection. Took forever to sort it and when I eventually decided to close the account it was a nightmare!

Would not go back to them if I changed.

Took nearly 3 months to get the braodband set up and reliable but
has been fine ever since.

totally agree with this. If you ever move house it's a living nightmare. My parents just moved to the house next door and Talk Talk actually lied to my Dad when he asked to take his number with him - they said they would do it but this is actually something they don't do at all.

The customer service is a complete joke. They don't actually have any one who can take a complaint. You have to wait 45 minutes to speak to them every time.

When you email them they only reply to say that they don't have the ability to reply to emails and you have to call them.

they don't respond to letters at all ever and when my Dad exercised his right to cancel the contract within 30 days, due to the 6 weeks it had taken them to sort out a telephone and broadband, his line was disconnected within minutes which was the only thing they ever did with any speed at all.

Avoid them like the plague is my opinion. unless of course you are prepared to endure the bitterness of lousy service in return for a tiny bit cheaper pricing.

Cheers

Just reinforcing what everyone else said while its working its good when it goes wrong whoa have you got problems.
We have been called into loads of sites to sort it. They have an Indian call centre that doesnt answer the phone and when it does they are useless.
Cheers,
Bob

I heard talk-talk was useless at customer service which is the only reason I didn't go with them.

I actually went with Post Office (unconventional?) for broadband and phone line.

Could not believe how good their customer service is. Reconnected my phone line, sorted everything out, gave me a call to let me know that it's been done for free and that my gubbins are on their way. When the gubbins came they said it'd be connected and working in 4 days... Hey presto on the fourth day everything was working.

Local call centres as far as I can tell!

Unlimited broadband + phone line extra for 26.50 I believe including their own line rental.

If I didn't go with them I'd go with O2 simply on past experience with them with mobiles (again, I like having an actual human on the other line within a 1000 mile radius of me).

try calling them during the day, usually get local(ish) call centre. Call them after hours & it could be anywhere.
