Stop children looking at porn
ok as i have never had to do this before, i'd like to ask the parents on here what you use.
Can you recommend a good program for me to recommend to my customers to make web browsing safe for kids ?

Mine comes free with BT Internet. (not that I use that sort of programme, or look at Porn... well only Car Porn!)
My kids are 21 and 23, so they can make their own minds up what to look at!
Check with your ISP, as you may well get something free but not be aware of it.
A lot of ISP's give you free anti virus, and other progs.
Its got to be worth checking before spending your money.
EDIT:
BT Internet give McAffee Anti virus Suite of Progs with the top two offings of their Internet package.

castration is the only thing that would have stopped me, there is no better hacker than lad trying to circumvent internet security to see some nips

as a security consultant for a Data security company i come across this issue alot.
especially with schools.
windows parental controls works ok so thats a start.
as you can set the type of websites people can view.
there is alot of internet filtering options on the market some free and some not.
if you have windows parental accounts setup like i have for my 12 year old daughter and i ensure she can only stay on pc between 8am and 9pm and that
she cant stay on for more than 2 hours a time in a 5 hour period.
and also i have key logger which looks for key words and emails me if they are used. then i would be confident your doing ok to stop access to the
wrong type of sites etc.
This system ensures that she cannot get on any adult site.
and yes a very small amount of sites may slip through but the odds of her finding those sites and the parental control not picking up on it is sooo
small.
i have used k9 in the past which is a filter and helps block other types of sites eg networking, dating and other sites you wouldnt want your kids
finding even if not adult porn etc.
IF you have kids like Craig then get sophos and parental controls.
Would be interested to see any onion routing etc

I tried several things including Norton Parental control but they all made the internet practically unusable.
In the end I just trusted my daughter not to do anything stupid on there after a wee chat. I don't think it's possible to hide all that
stuff from today's youngsters so I went down the education route instead. (I found out that she had seen lots before anyway via her mates on MSN
which they all seem to have from about 3 yrs old now anyway.)
She has turned out ok though

There is nothing on the market today that can stop people looking at porn!!
Filter systems do not work and i have proved it!!
A filter system only works on search words provided by various third party companies and they are only as good as the list of words provided.(Guess
work)
I have done alot of work on this with an expert witness for CPS for internet crime and proved they don't work
To cut a very long and shocking story short we have done alot of work with schools to develop a new internet safety net and you would be amazed a what
we uncovered in schools and businessess that thought they had the very best techies on site and the most advanced monitoring systems.

I always like a solution I saw years ago. The IT department had set up a proxy that all internet had to go through. They'd set it up to
display every jpg that came through on a monitor they put in a very public area. People were suddenly very careful where they went I was told.
Those were in the days before internet was common so it didn't have a huge volume going through it, but ideal for the home where you could put
the monitor in the living room/kitchen where you would spot anything dodgy going past.

Vodafone mobile broadband, unless you give them your ID or credit card details you're banned from looking at poker never mind anything dodgy.
Or the method I'd like to employ is "Laptops are banned from bedrooms and the modem comes with me when I go to bed"

I worked in a bank's head office a while ago - the IT department had set up a monitor that flagged up any images that had a large proportion of
flesh colour in it. They didn't show the pictures, just flagged it up to the manager for "an interview without coffee", as the RAF
call it.
This worked fine, until someone in the manager's family sent a whole load of baby pictures to him...
