How do i connect my netbook to tv
Hi Guys, your wisdom is required again, is it possible to connect my netbook to a tv using a vga to component cable ?, tried but the tv just says no
signal and the netbook screen goes blank as soon as i plug the vga cable in. It's an acer aspire d255 with windows 7 starter. any advice

VGA connection
If you have a Plasma , LED or LCD TV it will more than likely have the 15 pin SVGA connection like your laptop has? Just hook that up and your away,
find it on the source menu. Unless the cable is connected on the TV end it will not find it on the source list as it has a port sensing system. If
you only have Component inputs and no SVGA, then your conversion lead should be fine, make sure your TV and laptop are off before connecting as both
have port sensing. Power up the TV and then power the laptop up. You should now be able to use the Source button on your remote for the TV to find
the Component channel, once you find this if you still have no display, press and hold the FN key on the netbook and whichever FUNCTION key swaps the
signal, F5 from what I can see on this keyboard of yours.
You should now hopefully have a picture on your TV?

If the option for image is on, it should hopefully already be set as clone, which is what you want to replicate the setting on the laptop

Thanks Venom Project, managed to get the picture on my netbook with the vga lead in but the tv is still showing no signal, the f5 key seems to swap
between a blank netbook screen and then the picture. i'll persevere...

You wont get fullscreen though, you need an HDMI connection for that.
As said you should have a function key that will let you scroll through display options, i.e. netbook display , netbook display + another display
(your tv) , or your tv only.
I use a VGA to VGA lead it works fine .
Can you confirm that you are switched to your component input by connecting a game console or something else.
You could right click on desktop and make sure your video is set up for more than one display.........................

Its an lg 50 inch lcd, has hdmi, vga , component etc, think its probably the lead thats not right for the job... wii works fine, as does sky, dvd etc
all on different inputs. I was wanting to see if i could play films from the netbook through a component lead or scart lead to use when on holiday
rather than carting dozens of the youngests dvds with us. will try a vga to vga lead on the tv.

VGA
VGA to Scart is a different matter , you need a lead with synchronising electronics built in.

You're on holiday, leave the dvds at home and get on the beach

Acer 255
Curry's doing Acer 255 netbook with HDMI output for £199 at the mo, (only a 3 cell battery though!).
Anyway I'm sure you will find that VGA to VGA cble will work , but not full screen ( unless the tv has the same resolution a the netbook ,
unlikely!!)

If only our 5 year old would see things the same way.... plonk her infront of scooby doo you can generaly get 45 mins of peace and quiet.
Its the acer d255 that i have, never looked for a hdmi socket, thats how much attention iv'e paid to it so far !!, and its got a 6 cell battery.
