upgrade to win7
Got 2 del e6400 laptops with vista, there are some hardware differences.
Got another e6400 with win7.
If i clone the win7 disc and insert it into one of the other 2 dells, would it work? I have dell drivers on cd for one of the vista dells, would that
be enough to get the 2 vista dells upgraded to win7?
I have windows license codes for the dells and i understand that is all that is needed to activate win7.
Or is it not that simples.....

If you have license keys for Win7 I would try to get your hands on a Win7 installation disc and do it that way.
A clean install is always better. The clone route may give you problems with the licensing. As far as I'm aware you need a license for each
install unless you are on an enterprise license.

Here's a link to Microsoft's download page for 7;
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery
It just needs your key entering to get the download started.

This has ISOs for every possible version of W7.
Combine with ei.cfg removal utility (So you can select which version you need (x86 and x64 are
seperate though)) and Rufus to automagically fettle the ISO into a bootable USB stick.
Then all you need is a proper CD key.
There's also a W10 preview available from MS, which is alright for a change, but the UI is often as intuitive as trying to rebuild a carb using
a potato.

Put the tag number from the bottom of the laptop in and you can download all the win7 drivers.
Also check the one with Win7 on it already, you may find a drivers folder on the C: drive with all the drivers in it.

I've never gone for manufacturer supplied drivers, in my experience they come with all sorts of bloatware. In most cases Windows itself will be
able to download the drivers automatically once it has internet access (if it doesn't have them already).
