monitor and graphics card resolution
Enlighten me.
Monitor res. 1680 x 1050
Graphic card. 1920 x 1200 hdmi
2048 x 1600 vga
I am using dvi cable.
Control panel, display, screen resolution setting is showing range from 1024 x 768 to 1280 x 1024
I would like to use highest res which looks like its limited by monitor;
Why are control panel options lower than monitor and graphics card?
Am i perhaps missing driver for the card, its meant to be plug and play and there was some config update after fitting it.
Card is radeon 7470.

Probably windows at a guess? Default LCD driver maxes at 1024x768, get the correct monitor driver and check the graphics driver is correct and you
will probably be fine.

It is likely that you don't have the correct driver. You need to go to the vendor's website and download the latest driver.

I am using a Radeon R7 260X with a 1600x1050 res monitor.
Max Res will be as per monitor.
Standard VGA XVGA will also have the wrong aspect ratios.
Correct driver should give the correct Max Resolution for the monitor.
Some monitors also come with drivers for some OS's.

Card is radeon 7470.
It's only plug and play in the sense that you can get a picture out of it with the ancient and very basic driver that was included in windows.
Download the latest Catalyst drivers that support your card from the AMD Website.

sorted now; running at max monitor res of 1680 x 1050.
control panel -> system -> device manager
right click on 'display adapter'
select: update driver software - will trawl internet to find it.
