Microsoft word or similar

Hi peeps, since getting my now compo i have discovered a few short comings,my main concern now is the lack of "word",it seems to be part of "office" and i would have to buy the complete package and not use 90% of it.
what i am looking for is a free prog (there are many mentioned on 8.1 but no idea what one to use).
as long as i can input my words of wisdom,it will speel check and i can e mail or print without too much complication (just like word) :-).
oh and did i mention my first book has had a rave review and will be published soon

https://www.libreoffice.org/

Thats all you need. There have been other flavours but this is top and has been for a while. Word/Excel/etc compatible too.

What he said - I use LibreOffice on Linux, and it's 99.9% equivalent to Microsoft's Office.

There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand binary and those that don’t.

If only DEAD people understand hexadecimal - 57,005

if you have a (free) ms/hotmail/live/outlook account and a good internet connection you can use the online version of word free
https://office.live.com/start/Word.aspx?s=1&auth=1&nf=1
similarly, google provide various tools free.

If you want a PC based email system then get Thunderbird https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/thunderbird/

Otherwise just save the file to your PC and upload to your webmail.

DJ - I also use it on Linux Mint, which is easy until you do something slightly different. But it does make your computer twice as fast!
