Recovering Blocked files

My friend just sent me a song over MSN (one she'd recorded not a copied one) and i recieved it, but when i went to open it it said 'this file has been blocked'. I know it didnt have a virus or anything. It was a wav file. Is there any way of recovering the file as it took about an hour to send to me!

Adam

Adam,
it sounds as though you're using Windows XP.
Mine does that sometimes when you download a file.
If you use Explore to locate the actual file and right click the file, then left click properties, you might find it then shows that windows has put a security block on the file being opened. Just uncheck the blocked file check box. Then use whatever Anti-virus software you have to scan the file and then when that's done (assuming it doesn't find a virus) you should then be able to use the file.
Let's know how you get on - if that fixed it?

Cheers

Appears to have completely disappeared. It didnt say it deleted it just that it blocked it but its not in the file where i saved it.

If you know the name of the file - try a search and if it finds it, write down the filepath for it eg C:/my documents/music or whatever it shows.

Good luck
