Networking 2 PC's

I have 4 PC's in our house that all access the internet via an ASDL or ADSL router thingy (you can tell i'm up on this pooter lark can't you! ) I want to network my wifes work PC to my PC so she can print from her PC and not have to keep sending emails with attachments.

Q1: Do i have to network the 2 PC's in order to share the printer or can i share the printer through the router?

Q2: If i need to network the PC's together is it a simple seup using the wizard or is there more to it than that? Anything i should watch out for?

Thanx

You should be able to share the printer over the router. I assume the router is acting as a network hub for your 4 puters at the moment?

Go to control panel, then printers and faxes.

Right click on the printer you want to share and select sharing.

Select the share printer option, and give it a name.

Voila, job done (in theory)

The PC that has the printer currently connected

For her to connect to the printer - go to her PC and:

START - RUN - type '\\'pc with priner attached name'

hit enter

The printer will be displayed - double click and voila.

Note - your PC must be on for her to connect to the printer

Works as in - her works machine?

That's a blow

Ok - open internet explorer

delete all the stuff in address line and do

\\'machine with printer shared name'

that should do the trick

LOL wait till she's gone asleep

Or my personal fav!

Get a rag, douse it in choloroform and then go upto her and say - hey does this rag smell of chloroform - guaranteed she'll sniff it!

All women do!

Networking didn't work for me either , have tried setting up a network, but the other comp doesn't have a floppy drive so couldn't do a disk , they both use a netgear router and both 'automaticaly detect settings' for web access ??? Both comps use XP Home as well
what do i need to change for printer sharing ??

Deckman - that's a good setup - just follow the instructions above in Flak Monkeys and my posts and should all work
