Scam or genuine?
get so many scams now, its hard to tell...
Dear Valued Customer
We are committed to protecting you, with the latest technology to keep your details secure,
and dedicated teams to monitor online activity and intercept any suspicious actions.
And we do everything we can to protect our online customers, but the steps we take
can be much more effective if you work with us to protect yourself.
07 August 2006 our security system detected an unsuccessfull access attempt to your online account
from Ip address 81.190.253.29 that does not correspond to your current address.
Please click here to confirm your current address or change it online.
If you do not confirm your address until 10 August 2006 your account will be SUSPENDED for security reasons
and we will send you an Activation Code by post which you will need to renew your online banking service access.
You will receive this within seven days if your current address is not confirmed.
Yours sincerely
Adrian Grace

Barclays International Insurance Services Company Limited
I think scam, English isn't great and why put 'SUSPENDED' in block caps.

Scam....
I am with Barclays and have had arguments with them over how ridiculously tight their security is so they would definately not ask you to confirm
things by email like that.
My IP doesn't go with my home address but I don't always deal with my accounts from home. Don't see what difference that makes.
Bin it...

Scam. Barclays (proper) do have a security section for dealing with these, just forward it to them and delete. They want to get and nail those jokers
to something nasty I believe, cos they are useing their logo's and annoying their customers.
Enjoy.
PS. I've had two in the past 6 months.
Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

Scam, scam, scammity, scam!
If I was to believe all the emails I and my family get from "banks" we all have accounts with the same institutions, and have about 20
accounts each!
If you ever get an email apparently from a bank that you do have an account with, NEVER EVER click the link they put in - phone your bank and check if
there is a problem.

The grammar alone being so poor is something of a giveaway, this is Barclays afterall!
You don't start a sentence with 'And'
You don't use 'and' after a comma
The comma useage here is wrong too: "protect our online customers, but the steps "
There's a few others too.
Cheers,
James

Depends on which publisher you're writing for! (another bit of crap grammar, but never mind... )
I believe that the Oxford Press insist on "A, B, and C" in everything they print.
