Locked folders problem

So I've had to copy all my iTunes music back from an external HDD using Windows Back-up. I'm running XP home edition.

I've copied them back to where they were in Documents and Setting - All Uers - My Music.

Now when I try to pull them all back into iTunes it's only importing a fraction of them.

And when I look at the folder properties they are nearly all set to Read Only. When I try to re-set to open I get 'Error Applying Attributes...... Access Denied'.

So why is it denying me access? The back-up was done from this machine straight back to itself - I'm logged in as Administrator as I always am.

I assume you backed them up then reinstalled windows??

What you'll need to do is take ownership of the files. Click the advanced button on the security tab, the go to the owner tab, and take ownership from there.

Then make sure the administrator has "Full Control" on files and subfolders.

Scott.

Think you'll find you have to be in "safe mode" or security is "greyed out" - I have a full set of instructions to do this if you are still stuck.

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

Scott - Nope - just wanted to get them back after accidently deleting the whole folder, not sure where you mean to click the security tab - can you be more specific?

Russ - yes please, still stuck......
