Removing AOL for new service provider
I'm posting this on behalf of Bob as he can't get online to do it himself.
Ditching AOL and going with new ISP.
He can't install his new ISP software. It just hangs part way through the install.
This is apparently because he's been unable to fully remove the AOL software.
Any hints/tips on removing it?
Cheers,
James

I ended up doing a fresh installation of Windows.

Uninstall it using windows installer. Then use regcleaner or something similar to get rid of all its stuff it leaves behind.
You can doa registry search and get rid of the entries yourself if you want. Also search the computer and remove everything AOL related.
AOL is a PITA to uninstall, done it a couple of times, and its never just removed itself... I do know of people who have had to resort to a reformat
to get rid of it, but it shouldnt necessarily be the only option!

clean anything remaining.

Just been through the same problems getting AOL off my old laptop (ready for use with a Power Commander) - total nightmare to get rid of!
Wouldn't mind if AOL was any good, but it's not (stuck with it on my desk top too). I'll be changing for the BT Home Hub thingy
soonish

Ok, thanks everyone. Will pass onto Bob the good news.
I've never heard of Shred recycle bin. Is this a 3rd party utility or an M$ one?

James

Spybot has it.
There is a facility to shred deleted items in Spybot S&D where you can do more than one pass to make sure stuff is unreadable.
