How to convert MPEG to DivX or WMV?
My son's band had a gig last night along with a number of other bands. I recorded their half hour set on digital camcorder and have uploaded it
to my PC in MPEG format. I want to be able to split it up and then upload say 1 song in video format to Myspace or Youtube but the MPEG is enormous -
600-650MB for 30 minutes, say nearly 100MB for one song.
Any thoughts on locost (i.e. free!) software to convert MPEG to another format and compress it on the way? I already have a package that can split the
MPEG down into chunks
Thanks in advance.

If you have xp, why not try Windaz Movie Maker in Start, All Programs & Accesories, not that good but may do the biz for you.

Divx do a converter which is not free but it isn't too expensive. There is a 15 day trial on their
website if you just want to do a one off.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Dr Divx
It works, easy to use, open source......you will need to download a codec if you dont already have one! Read the faq and documentation...i.e. I dont
offer support
Happy encoding!!!

Thanks for the replies... Dr Divx looks the best/easiest, but it keeps crashing when I try to convert an MPEG that has been split out of the full
original MPEG (using NanoPeg)
