MS Office Programs wont Open

After fixing my computer (I thought) by getting rid of Nero Scout. It now wont open office programs. When I try to open them, the CPU makes a funny noise the program freezes and the computer slows right down until I close the office program.

Oh yeah and IE still isnt working.

Does office have some kind of Indexing program like, Nero Scout? I checked and I havent got Find Fast installed.

Cheers

If your CPU is making a funny noise then you are in big trouble!
I would suggest it's your hard-drive making the racket.
If I were you I would back up ALL your important data and then run chkdsk to see the state of your drive.
If you haven't done this before it's
start>run>cmd
then type in
chkdsk /F
It takes a while but should give you the option of repairing any problem areas.
I haven't hard a hard-drive die in years.
The other option is to go to the control panel (start>settings>control panel) and click on add/remove programs. Look for the programs that are misbehaving and click on "repair". You may need the original disks.

Good luck

Ok, as you said it more likely to be my HDD. Im going to wait till I get a copy of Vista then format my HDD anyway. Ive got an external drive to back all my data up.

Cheers for the help, but its due its annual format, there is so much software I downloaded for one use then never loaded, will do it good to give it a clear out.
