you tube problem

I am having trouble with youtube and when downloading files from the internet.

When youtube files are buffering, the red will shoot up and then stop and start and then finally stop before the buffering is complete.
I then have to click past where the vid stops and then it will buffer from that point forward.

Similar thing happens when i download files, it will start and stop and then stop completely. I can sort of get round this by using a download manager.

The only time youtube works properly is for a few days after I set my router port forwarding to allow azeurus to work.

this problem exists whether i use firefox or IE
though it did improve when i switched FF to auto detect proxy settings

I am using a belkin wireless router, with internet through a cable modem.

Any ideas chaps, im a bit of a networking numpty, when i set the port forwarding i just followed online instructions

Have you got a PC that's wired into the router? That'd tell you if the problem is wireless related or not.
Someone I know had major issues with streaming even the smallest youtube videos, turned out to be his ISP.
Have you tried www.speedtest.net just to make sure it isn't a slow connection?

Sorry to be so vague! Is hard to trace a problem like this when it's youtube
