Why does it do this
A while back now I was reading/writing a lot of stuff to the A drive. Now whenever I try to save a file it always trys to read the A drive fist and
continuosly "chirps away while the file is downloading to the "save as position" usually a folder on the C drive. It always saves
the file where asked to but the chirping A drive is a pain in the ass if it's a big file. It is also quite a drain on resources and ties the
machine up a bit.
Don't go too techy on me though cause I hate when you can't "see" the problem that needs fixed and I don't do
"virtual sight.
OOps should say XP and firefox.

Check the file location's in preferences on the applications, the default save location probably needs changing to C my documents, or whatever.

No No your missing the point. There is no disc in the A drive. It ALWAYS try's to read/write to the A drive even while downloading to a folder
on the c drive.

Maybe the sensor that detects disk is present is stuck on?

What application are you saving files from? I've had this problem before and it was because the file last saved to A: was still in the
"Most Recently Used" (MRU) list in the file menu. A quick hunt through the registry had it removed (or you could just save enough files
to other drives to push it off the list).

Mostly firefox but at the time it started i was trying to sort a laptop and was transfering files between this desktop and the lappy. It's not
hindering me but is annoying none the less.
