Blue screen on pc
PC has been running fine. Just switched it on and got a blue screen saying malfunction etc. a full screen full.
Tried to restart it and now nothing, doesnt even fire the monitor up.
Fan is running but no hdd light.
Do you think hdd has gone? If so can files be recovered easily?
Thanks in advance

If it's not even showing the screen, it's more likely that the motherboard / processor / memory / gfx card has gone south. The files on
your hard drive *should* be OK.
Is the machine beeping when you switch it on, or flashing one of the LEDs in a pattern? If so, the pattern is an error code you can look up in the
motherboard manual. If not, take the side off the case and see if there are any lights on the motherboard. If not, then it's probably that
that's failed. working thru the other stuff is tricky unless you have spare RAM or a GFX card knocking about to try in it.

Then it's *probably* the motherboard. Which fan is turning, the one on the PSU, or the case? It could be that one output from the PSU is
knackered, but you wouldn't likely get a blue screen from that, it'd just go black.
open the case up and push the power button, see if the CPU fan starts up....
