If you're sent an item in the post without stamps what do you get?
I sold something on ebay & left it with the rest of the mail at work to be posted which has never caused problems in the past.
The buyer has contacted me to say he had to pick it up from the post office as I had'nt paid the postage. As I didnt post it myself & it was
only a couple of quids worth I dont have proof of postage. I've asked him to email me a copy of what the post office sent him as proof so I
know he's not just trying it on, but what should I see?
I'm happy to make up for his trouble but I wont be mucked about!

he will have had a card through the door stating he had a package with no postage payed and how much owed and to go and collect it and pay up. Theres
also a couple of quid admin type fee to cover the post offices trouble.
If he was any sort of person he owould have got a reciept for the payment when he collected it especially if he wanted you to pay.

He will get a reciept from the post office for any money he pays them, he should also have some correspondence from them telling him he has a parcel
to collect with £x to pay. It will be paper based, unlikely to be able to send you anything electronically unless he can scan it.

you normally get a card through the door from the post office. can't remember if it says how much to pay though. an A4 letter is usally about £2
i think, though that may have been before they changed all the postage cost rules and stuff.

We had a wedding invitation earlier in the year that had a bow on it making it more than the regulation 5mm thick for a letter. The 2nd class post
for a large letter is 2p more than a first class letter so we had a note through the door asking us to pay the 2p plus £1.00 admin charge at our local
sorting office. Its the sort of thing that makes you really like a company isn't it?

for the sake of a few quid i'd trust his honesty, its not as if this is the scam of the century is it? If you upset him you risk him saying it
never arrived at all, which you certainly couldnt disprove without... proof!

Well if he's into buying & selling on Ebay (feedback over 400) he'll have a digital camera & know how to email the photos,
I'll be happy with that.
I had a rough idea it'll be a post-card type thing but a reciept with the costs, date etc was what I was after, something that ties it to what I
sent.

well, except the emails or whatever from him saying it arrived without postage.
still, i wouldn't lose sleep over a couple of quid. likewise, if i was him, i'd be annoyed, but i wouldn't lose sleep over a couple

To be honest it's not the money I'm just wanting him to be aware I wont just pay up without a little proof, now that sellers cant leave
negative feedback I want to show I still wont be bossed about!
He cant say it did'nt arrive though, he's sent me an email saying he's picked it up!

I might be missing something here but as i understand it your employer (unless you own the company) paid the original postage? Which sounds like a
good deal to me given that you would have profited from the buyer paying you direct for it?
I've known staff face disciplinary action for the same thing.
So even if you have to pay for postage you're still not out of pocket?

And if I asked on an ebay forum would it be this helpful?!! I did wonder where to put it, mabye in Mad House but it would'nt come up on the

Fair point!
I work for a small agric engineers, I get all my bits for cars etc put on a card which comes straight off my overtime before I get it. He puts the
cost of stuff I post on the card too, whether he bothered about a few stamps or not I dont know but there's much give & take, I dont think
it'll matter.

My place let me post my TIG welder back to Germany, it would have cost me £60, but we get a discounted rate coz we ship stuff all the time.
I reckon it was too much trouble to deduct it from my wages.
