Can anything be done with an lx_cats file?
I've got a Lexmark X5470 into which I've just fitted a re-filled (alphajet) cartridge.
Unfortunately the printer knows it's a non Lexmark cartridge and won't work at all which is a pain because getting out to the shops is a
problem at the moment.
It seems the printer logs info on every cartridge fitted holding this in a special chip. There is also a file called lx_cats which you can look at
with notepad and it certainly seems to hold details of the various cartridges previously loaded.
I've read that you can simply delete this file to overcome the problem but am a bit concerned that may be terminal.
Anyone come across this before?
John.
