Comparing folders
I have a backup to an external hard drive that I made a year ago. Is there any way to view what has changed in archived folders in a superficial way.
I don't want file details down to the last bit and byte. I want to see if all my old car build files are still on the master/current hard drive.
Sure there are many new files, documents, pictures on the current hard drive but I suspect some of the archived stuff is no longer on the
current/master hard drive.

Beyond Compare.
Brilliant bit of software
You can choose how to compare. From binary compare to just date or any combination.

Not quite a comparing tool, but I use Total Commander
(free version) which allows me to copy everything from one drive to another with several options such as 'overwrite all older' etc.

+1 used it a lot in the past. Quite complex but very powerful.

Thanks. Used Beyond Compare which has worked OK. Jobs probably unrealistic as there are about 3000 files missing in 30 folders and I don't need
to copy all across. The tool is a bit too clever for what I hoped to do. Worried about all the orphans I didn't even know I had in the hard
drive.

Try Synctoy 2 linky free
from microsoft. Can set it up in several ways and I found it very useful for making backups and then updating both folders with name changes and
deleted files.
