netbook memory
I bought a netbook a little while ago - Compaq Mini CQ10-400SA with Windows XP, since you ask  - and I have been very pleased with it, but it is a
bit slow. It has only 1GB of RAM so I am thinking of swapping it out for a 2GB module. Apparently, according to Crucial, it is a "2GB, 200-pin
SODIMM, DDR2 PC2-6400 memory module". Crucial themselves want c. £32,so I am just wondering if anyone knows a cheaper, reliable source of said
RAM?

try here.
i have just ordered them about 5 mins ago to upgrade mine to 2gb ram
try not to mix makes of ram. replace it all.
unmatched is pretty useless really.

I just upgraded my netbook to 2 gb, it makes a difference with less disc access (probably swapping pages out).
I get all my stuff from Ebuyer. I find them good proces, and easy to deal with.
I even managed to order the wrong speed memory. That have agreed to take it back even though I have opened it and put it in the PC (it didnt work).
I bought new memory whihc arrived today and works fine. They will credit me for the old memory when it gets back to them.
Make sure you get the right memory, type and speed. Its easy to get wrong!

I often use ebuyer as a cheap source of parts.
- Reviews slate the customer service from time to time, but the only time ive returned something it was without hitch. Most things i buy
(CDs/HDDs/cables) are that cheap im not really bothered.
Also its not really got there for you, but often 'legacy' memory for old laptops gets expensive to buy new, and which point ebay is very
much the way fwd.

Nowhere was cheaper than Crucial when you add P&P, so they got my vote!

For smaller stuff like this, I use Novatech - www.novatech.co.uk. 2 reasons:
1) I can order it, then drive to the shop and pick it up so don't have P&P to pay (so base price may be a bit more, but probably cheaper
all-in)
2) Having a counter service locally is a great facility so I support it where I can.

pcworld will provide crucial memory at slightly below list, but obviously no p+p if you have a local branch (Or they did last year when I bought
some)
