Try this

Make sure you have good AV on your pc. You pc will last about 60 seconds on net before you pickup a virus or spyware etc.

What os are you running? First call for me is to roll the system back to an earlier date pre-infection
Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a
car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes
and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

The thing is with that, is the virus remains where it is...
PC needs booting up in safe mode to remove the virus, as far as I understand the PC will backup everything with system restore, which to get rid of
the virus needs to be disabled.
bleepingcomputer.com will hold the answer, has bailed me out more than once.
I am not a PC expert, and have successfully removed umpteen virus after over enthusiastic surfing by my teenage sons.

First step is to disable system restore then get rid of the .exe then go through registry and internet temp files and delete all references to it.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Edit : Horses for courses. Never had any trouble on numerous machines. O bviously need to do it properly and use other software etc
I've been lucky then
Roll back so the virus can't boot
Remove virus with avast/MSE/Anti-malware
Disable system points/ delete post virus points.
etc etc
