I have a computer tip.

99.99% of the time i don't need 12 megapixel pictures and turn the wick down on my digi camera to 3MP for normal work. A lot of other people don't do this and I'm routinely given usb sticks with sometimes gigs worth of photos.

Please excuse if I am teaching people to suck eggs here as I know there a people far mor PC literate on here than me but I recently shared this little nugget to someone who didn't know and they really liked it.

Its really really quick and easy way to shrink lots of photos.

Select either 1 or many photos in explorer
Right click and Select send to mail recipient.
Select desired final size of all photos
An email message will pop up with all your shrunk photos as attachements.
Just select them, right click and copy or (ctrl+c) them to wherever you need them.

There is probably another way to acces this shrinkin tool in windows, I just don't know it also anyone else suggest how else they do it.

Easier to use google Picasa using the export tool you can screw the compression down tight and/or reduce the number of pixels.

Google Picasa III is free and is a fantastic simple tool for managing images, it isn't Photoshop but it has everything the average user wants.

I use the email trick at work all the time.
We don't get to install your choice of software there, so you work with what you have.

It's a bit long winded compared to a bit of software designed for the job, but it works well.

In our case, we have to store the pics in large format originally to make sure we have server space.
Sounds crazy, but that's how it is.
We squat in server space with big pics then reduce them and replace with small pics when we need some space to store new work.
