US spec iPod - any problems????

I'm off to the US and fancy buying an iPod. Anybody know if there is any good reason why I shouldn't? Charger power supply problems or anything else that will make it a pain?

A couple of lads in my office have done this - I'll find out if there are any problems and let you know tomorrow.

OK - the iPods work fine, but you'll need to buy an "international adaptor" kit (CLICKY). This gives you the piece that clips onto the power supply so that you can plug into the UK mains sockets (and European ones as well!). This kit costs around £35 from the Apple shop in London. You may be able to get it in the USA cheaper!

Presumeably, if you just charged it in the car, it will work just with a car charger. Otherwise, at £37 more, I may as well buy a UK one.

I think you'll find that you'll still save a heap of money - the lad in the office paid 60% of the UK price. The adaptor kit should be cheaper over there as well.

Ahh - the old "one dollar in the US = 1 Pound in the UK" trick...
Really, there's no excuse for it - fill a container full of iPods and each device's share of the shipping cost is a Pound, probably much less. Even adding import duty doesn't add that much.
Rip-off Britain strikes again.
