Hi my pc's stopped switching off, after clicking turn off, it starts unloading and gets to the " windows is saving your settings "
and that’s it. Any suggestions

I had the same thing with 2000 pro, it was norton trying to virus check stuff that did not exist
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Either it is a badly behaved process or program running in the back ground could be either one you have installed or virus/malware you have picked
up.
First thing to to is bring up the task manager and indenify what proess and programs are running in th background, after that try a virus sweep and
run HijackThis and examine the log file it produces.

The button on the case doesn't switch it off
And i'm fed up crawling under the desk to turn the plug off
I've ran adaware and spybot, didn't find anything, i'll try hijack this next

Did that to a client's computer and it trashed the boot record

The button usually has a delay on it so you don't shut it down accidentally. You can set the option to have it shut down or hibernate in the
bios. Keep your finger on it for about 5 seconds and see if that shuts it down.

yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
