HELP! - with missing/broken DLL file!
HELP!
HP Laptop running Win XP Pro SP2
I downloaded the Div X codec last night for Windows Media Player. Downloaded and installed no problem, but when I re-booted as requested I got a
messge box saying...
bcmwltry.exe - Ordinal Not Found
The ordinal 968 could not be found in the dynamic link library LIBEAY32.dll{/i]
Clicking OK doesn't get rid of it and it seems to prevent me from connecting to my wireless router. However if I connect to the router with a
LAN cable it is working.
Do I need to replace the dll file? or is it something more complex?
Any help appreciated.

For misiing dll just google for LIBEAY32.dll 9 time out of 10 the first site on the results will have it for download.

Excuse my ignorance, but can you expand a bit?
Do I have something malicious on my laptop?
Reading the link you posted I also have a broadcom wireless adapter. I have updated the driver for this, but the problem is still there.
Any suggestions?

Someone more versed than me in this type of thing could advise better. I'm no genius when it comes to system integration which it appears that
is. I would probably go the BT route and re-install the missing .dll then you're back to Status Quo. I'm always a bit mnimalistic though -
if it doesn't need to be there I remove it - kinda cuts the crap out. However, this does lead to obvious problems which shared dll's. I
love to faf (it helps me learn) so I persevere but it's needless and time consuming. Follow the path of least resistance and google the file and
re-install it... sorted!  Do some digging before you go any further if you prefer to remove it Nick!

A lot of people on the web regard all recent MS updates to media player as malware in that they have the longterm aim of clamping down hard on media
copying coupled with other moves to give MS and Intel a strangle hold on multimeda play back.

Media Player 10 is the biggest crock of sh!te MS has spawned. Yes, it plays a lot of formats - period. Yes it rips CD's (very badly).
I'm not the first to realise that copyright infringment/theft occur's and that the relevant authorities will be hounding Mr Gates to
respond to try and combat this. I liken it to the BBC Charts... people will only absorb so much SH!TE before they react. MS systems have been the
global standard for quite some time now - but it doesn't make it good. Due to it's user friendliness (oh yes it is!  ) it has made it
open to abuse - hence the downloading underworld. Mr Gates is the commercial God of the business world, his bank balance is testament to that.
However, you can't put the genie back into the bottle from which it came can you? He has expanded (not created) on a network to make filesharing
easy. Now he's being given orders from the R.I.A.A. he wants to control it? Good luck to him is what I'd say...
