wireless died

the story goes........

went away for the weekend so unplugged everything in my room, that included my modem and wireless router.

got back sunday night, plugged everything in, put the laptop on and had no internet. put the pc on downstairs which is connected via the wireless also no internet. plugged the modem straight in to the back of my laptop and i now have internet!

just been through the wireless set up and there are no settings at all in the wan but they are all there in lan?

using a d-link router if that makes any difference.

anyone shed some light as to how i can get mobile again?

cheers
john

Have you somehow lost the security settings on your computer to allow the wireless to connect?

The settings on the router must be ok if you can connect directly to it and get net access.

Try powering everything off except the modem, fire up the wireless access point leave it for about 3 or 4 minutes then fireup the pc, just thinking that the dhcp service hadn't started properly before the clients started coming on line. Just a thought.

if you pwerdown for any length of time wirless setups tend to return to the default settings, whilst in the lan type the address in an internet page prob be 192.168.1.1 (most default to that) check the wireless settings if theyre there try connecting within the setup menus, if this doesnt work you may well have to reset the security settings, if the settings have reset to default then youllk just have to reset them any way, the reason your laptop isnt getting through on wirless is that its trying to use the security settings !
