Laptop defrag problem

i have aquired a laptop, as I never get the chance to use my PC as "others" get there first !

so i have deleted all the old history etc, and the system is still quite,ish , so i tried to defrag it
The laptop does 10% and then starts all over again ??

Ive used defrag loads of times, but never had this,

any Idea's

Something is running and changing whats on disk as defrag is trying to move it, AV is the usual culprit, but close all uneeded processes down and try again

Screensaver was running and then i switched it off,
i will try power save tomorrow

Depending on Operating sytem, virus scan engines can cause the symptoms you describe.

if you dont have virus scan or it is switched of boot into safe mode and try running it.

Try the below, i have been using it a lot recently and it seems more tolerant of disk writes than the ms built in version,
