Ram compatibility question
I want to upgrade the ram in my puter, it currently has 512mb in the form of two 256mb DDR PC2700's
I want to use two 1gb modules instead, question is before i buy them, will these work ok?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SAMSUNG-1GB-DDR-PC3200-400-400Mhz-RAM-GB-1-GB-G-IN-UK_W0QQitemZ270135635271QQihZ017QQcategoryZ172QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
The only 1gb PC2700's i can find are from the USA or Hong Kong and i don't want to wait.
Alternatively anyone know a good cheap UK source.
TIA
Al.

Yes they will work.
If your board doesnt support the PC3200 (400mhz) speed they will just run at the highest available speed.
Its also worth checking the max ram your board will accept without a bios upgrade. Not a major problem if it does, but worth checking.

Just make sure that you set the ram speed in the bios at an equal function to your motherboard FSB even if it means down rating it, ie. if your
Motherboard operates at 800mhz, set your ram at 400mhz not 533mhz or it will crash from time to time.
I buy all my computer equipment from www.scan.co.uk who I can't fault. They list your required memory as in-stock and it is usually despatched
next day. They are open Saturday so it should arive on Monday.
