Wireless network and vista!?!?!

Bought my boy a new laptop and it has vista on it [spits] I have a wireless router and am trying to get the boys lappy to connect to the internet wirelessly but it won't have it. Hard wiring is fine but i can't find anywhere that lets it search for a wireless connection. My boy is eager to go wireless and is getting quite upset.

Any help please!!!!!

Its even easier than XP. Make sure the card is on, left click the little screen in the corner, click connect to a network, click set it up manually and enter your details. Easy. It may even do it automatically instead of manual.

I reckon your network card is off tbh.

I assume it has built in wireless, so have you switched it on?
I fell for this trying to sort out me aunts. Spent ages then realised it was switched off....doh!

Built in wireless usually has an activate search push button above the function keys.

Also wireless networking tends not to work in older houses with thick walls.

wouldn't be an acer aspire would it?

lost many hours with the bloody thing (would of preferred xp - have it on my other aspire problem free)

would connect and be fine then suddenly stop and not work then randomly work again.
