Parental Control Software?
Looks like one of my kids has got the idea that the Internet is good for looking up naughty adult style material, can't imagine where they got
that idea...
I paid for Norton for my laptop but it slows everything down just too much. Any good freebie software anyone can suggest..

You'll never block everything whatever you try - kids actually only want the internet for things you'd rather they didn't use it
for...... porn isn't the end of the world imho, I don't like MSN and the like because they can get themselves into all kinds of strife
because of the usual forum/email misunderstandings of what you're actually meaning to say as opposed to how you've written it - BUT
it's all just part of growing up nowadays and I guess they need to learn how to deal with it - and we get to pick up the pieces when they
can't - joy

Kids today will never have to experience the terror of buying your first porn mag. Like buying your first beer and fags one of the rites of passage. I
was loyal to Ford and bought Escort, it was rubbish, bit like my first Mk1.
DO NOT PUT ON KNOB OR BOLLOCKS!

what do they say, something like 70% of the net is porn, tells you a lot about people.
I think the biggest worry is there is little in they way of barriers (if any) between the soft stuff and the (very) down right crazy and some of that
I think really could harm kids. Would they be able to tell the difference from pretend and real, I doubt it.
Kids know so much about computers I really doubt I'd know enough to block them, they'd just find some gizmo and do what they want.

While Norton 2006 was very good, 2007 was C*R*A*P and I switched to McAfee.
Quite happy with the current version of McAfee - ties into Windows accounts nicely.

The last few versions of decent parental software also work on MSN messenger etc...

But no software can control what THEY type, which can be the problem...... and then they go out of the house to meet their mates and get told
they're realy boring if they don't have a drink or a smoke - and we're not just talking about Embassy No1 any more.... I'm
only 40 but it seems a very different world teenagers have to deal with from when i was one...and I was far from the model teenager

Or they hide it better
I've always liked the idea of a proxy machine that just sits there displaying pictures being downloaded as they come in. Worked for a company
that did that once and they put the monitor was in a public area. Really concentrates the mind
