Orange Broadband - No Email!
Hi All
My email's been very quiet for a few days, i.e. none! I know i've been sent emails and I've even tried sending stuff to myself but
nothing is coming through. I know my settings are all fine.
Is anybody else daft enough to be on Orange Broadband and experiencing similar problems?
Regards
Wyn

UNDERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
OVERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
HORSEPOWER is how fast you hit the wall.
TORQUE is how far you take the wall with you.

My Orange BB has been busted all day but OK now.
I was on the 'phone to Orange lastnight whinging about the amount I was paying and not getting my moneys worth so they found me a better deal.
They also included a free wireless modem which would arrive in the next 7-10 days. However, upon my return from work tonight, I have a package waiting
for me. I nice shiney "Livebox", whatever that is. It doesn't look to be very wireless to me!!!
Anyone got any experience of such a box and what do I do with it? I won't have time to have a good look in the box for a couple of days!!

I've got a live box and it definately is wireless cos both my wii and the missus laptop run on it.
just be sure to follow the instructions and write down you login and password somewhere safe because you usually need them if it goes wrong.
The only down side of the livebox is that it updates its self, which can take upto ten mins and in this time you have no net access. It always seems
to do it at the most annoying times.

My orange broadband is always playing up and whenever I ring up I usually get through to somebody in India that doesn't know anything about
computers. They usually insist that it is a problem with my computer and I try to explain that it can't be because none of my pcs will connect
or my xbox.
I am also getting loads and loads of spam. I'm not really interested in a breast enlargement they are big enough

Get off the porn sites then !
I'm getting loads of spam with Orange too and you're only allowed 100 spam addresses
They rang and asked to speak to my wife, I said why, they explained they were from Orange (she's the account holder) and were we happy with the
service.
I said no, I'm pissed off and then he says he'll get someone else to ring back and hung up
Have heard a thing since !
My contract is up in April, time to change providers I think.

How to stop 99% of Spam if you run Windows and get mail via MSoutlook or MSOutlook Express.
Install K9 http://keir.net/k9.html Which is a "Baysian Filter" It auto configures Outlook & Outlook Express.
http://keir.net/k9.html
One you have K9 running you can train it to give near 100% spam rejection. You can also set it up to use black lists (lists of spam senders) but this
slows it down a lot.
If you run Thunderbird you need to configure by hand but Thunderbird already has a built in spamfilter that if properly trained gets rid of about 80%
of the stuff.
You can also set up message rules within your email client to dump and emails with words like penis or Rolex or xxx in the subject.
These tools are slightly less effective than they were because spammers are now getting round Bayesian filters.
