Hyperlink problem
My wife's computer has suddenly developed an annoying fault. In Explorer she can go to sites ok but when she clicks on a link within the master
page IE often freezes, the blue bar at the top of the page looks washed out and it says Explorer cannot connect.
Apparently there is some message about java sorry don't have full details.
She thinks this started after she installed a new HP printer/fax/scanner
Any ideas ?

Only way the printer could have any effect it it is connected to the PC via a network (either wireless or wired) in which case it would simply entail
logging on the the printers local web page and turning off its DCHP server.
However if you are connected via a USB cable this shouldn't matter.
More likely the settings of Internet Explrorers connection have got changed possibly by a MS Windows update. Run the internet connection wizard and
set "Computer connects Directly to the Internet" and make sure internet explorer is set for "direct connection" and
"no proxy"

Try unistalling any Toolbars or Shopping Helpers, restart the pc after and see if that makes any change.
Had 2 instances this week of Live Messenger doing a similar thing also, so if you have it and don't use it , get rid.

Thanks
Apparently son had a go - completely lost connect to ISP routine
After much struggling he got it back but now it connects via BT Ireland . The follow links function works again though.
Oh to be young again
