Printer / Copier / Scanner / Fax

I need a whole load of gear for my home office and was considering one of these combination all in one thingys.

But I need to print A3 drawings fairly regularly.

Does anyone have any good / bad experiences of this type of machine? I'm a bit worried about the eggs in one basket scenario where if it goes awol, I won't be able to do anything, other than email!

But I could really do without buying 4 seperate bits of kit and having to find space for them all!

Cheers

Mike

I really like the all in one brother fax scanner copier printer thing I have. It's B/W A4 - not sure if they do a colour A3 one though

Cheers

mark

ps I have a separate colour laser printer so I only have 2 boxes to accomodate

I've had good experiences with the HP 2575, but that's only A4. I can't remember ever seeing a A3 multi-role printer, as they're mostly A4 for the SOHO market.

You won't find an "all in one" A3

For A3 printers look at the HP office Jet Pro K8600, Officejet K7100 or Deskjet 9800 or 1280.

All in one A4 inkjets if you do a lot of printing and want reliabiity go for an HP Officejet or Photosmart for example Photosmart C5180 which has a built in ethernet connection.

don't buy a cheap one whatever you do.

My bro bought a cheap lexmark one which was shite from the word go, ended up being thrown out of an upstairs window when only a month or so old.

Excellent quality and uses 6 separate inks which means lower running costs. The HP Officejet A3 printers are good too.

I've just had a look at the C5180, looks good and at a price point that floats my boat. But what about the fax function? Or would I need a separate machine, or programme on my 'puter?

The 5180 doesn't have a fax but the next model up does .... but at a price.

Fax is sooooo last season darling - can't you use email?

What about a small photocopier, Laser rather than inkjet, will print A3, most have print/scan/fax options (at a price!)

I'm not suggesting a new one but there seems to be plenty of S/H desktop ones on ebay that may tick at least some of your boxes

office equipment is my business.

personally i wouldn't buy used machine from
ebay. this kind of machine is usually there
for a reason. most need an engineer to get
them up to scratch. Theres not much you can
do to them yourself. I've looked at plenty
that people have paid £300-500 for and
need £1000-1500 spent on them.

Sharp do an A3 copier/printer/scanner
(black/white only, but you'll pay about £1000
for it. Its not the cheapest to run, but it does
work well.
For fax & colour A4 print/copy I would buy a
brother MFC or as said HP C5180 (just under
£100) or better

All in one office type A3 colour
copier/printer/scanner/fax is available, but
look to spend £3k plus, and make sure you
take out a service contract - you WILL need
it.
Good luck

Thanks GeorgeM

Looks like a 2 machine minimum then! A4 scanner / printer / copier / fax and then a separate A3 colour printer!

Cheers

Mike
