How to copy files from a DVD Rom to PC?

I've been using computers for years, but have come unstuck. I'm installing some software, and part of the process is to copy the files on a DVD Rom to a folder on the desktop.

I've created the folder, put the DVD in the drive, but can find no way of copying the files into the folder.

Any help appreciated. Windows XP SP2 BTW

most obvious way would be drag and drop, but i guess thats not working... can you actually see the files you need? like are they hidden or anything?

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Not hidden, it would be OK if there was an option of 'copy to' and then I could enter the file name. But there isn't
