file resize
hay all i need help in reducing my pictures down to no more than 20kb they are taken on a digi camera at its lowest res of 2.1mpixles i have so
far used software called irfanvue but to get down to 20kb the image is around 120 pixles i need around 200x140 pixles the pics are of crashed cars
and the images need uploading to the police contract people and there limit is 20kb per image help

Try Pixresizer - it allows you to specify the picture size by pixel size as well as reducing it by a percentage. I find it very very easy to use
anyway for resizing pics for this site

You need to alter the compresion ratio (quality) if you want small file size for a large resultion.
Ive not sure pauls suggested software but it sounds like it could do the job.
I use an old beta version of paintshop (free of a mag cover) and just resize to suit, tweaking the compresion ratio at point of saving untill its
about right.

My avatar pic is 200 x 150 pixels and is 14k in size according to the photo gallery so hope this is helpful. Cant remember what the original pic was
so might not be too useful - as said the compression ratio may need to be altered (or simply set the camera(s) up to suit if thats an option)

THANKS PAUL well that software works a little blurry but i can get 250 pix in 18kb nice one everybody

Gimp is a brilliant free programme that is like photoshop. Worth a look.

^^^ yeah, get TheGimp. Extremely powerful program and aswell as setting size by pixels you can change the quality of the compression.

Well if you doing a lot, look at Jasc imagerobot.
- Thats what i tend to use for batch image processing/resizing.
