Hard drive Booting

Can anyone point me in the right direction.....

Refreshing an old laptop to use with MS, formatted the hard drive (via usb into my other vista laptop) and re inserted it into the old laptop, win 2K install cd in the drive and switched on expecting the pc to boot from the cd so i can install windows........ but nothing just a message saying missing bootmgr ??

Do i need to copy some files onto the hard disk or do some setting up??

need to set the bios to boot from cd first.

Ah just worked it out!!

Its booting, hoorah!!

as you boot up you need to hit del or f2 or whatever your particular lappy needs to get into the bios.

Then you just go through the menu till you find the bit where you set the boot order, set the cd first in the order, save and exit.

should work ok then.

yep all sorted now saw the f2 bit on the start up screen.
