The right to privacy seems to have gone. The right to opt in if you want something rather than being opted in and being told you have the right to
opt out if you don't want it. Like being told all locosters have been signed up to tits and bums weekly and a dozen other porn sites and you
have the right to opt out. Thanks but no thanks.
If someone wants to join face book and post links for their friends then sure, why not. But why does my world have to be altered for their benefit.
Let them do the work. The puerile/assinine legend, 'Be the first to like this' make me want to gouge my eyes out. To see that 'Five
people like this' just makes me want to scream till I die.

much info on there as you like so its not as if people no when your taking a poo or where you live.

look at LB so why should it really bother you. If you dont like the button, dont use it. I dont like adverts, but they have to be there, I dont like
lots of things but they dont go away just because I personally dont like them.
But we do have breaks when it is acceptable to access non-banned (as yet) sites.
+1
lots of employers are restricting work internet access now, if people didnt have access to LB at break times ect this forum would be a lot quieter 8-5
and loose the benefits of some quick responces to posted problems.
also think most No's are from people that dont have, or any knowledge of facebook (like me) but this alone is no reason to block it in my

Facebook in itself isn't evil, it all depends on how you want to use it.
I have 50-60 "friends" on facebook, the vast majority are real friends who I keep up with, bits of news etc.
Facebook only does what you want it to, if you don't click on a link etc. it doesn't do anything....
(speaking as a facebook sceptic until I needed to join 6 months ago to get in touch with a mate who's details I'd lost.)

Sorry - I don't like FB either. I have an account and rarely check it.
In fact I hate the way FB communication works. The written word can never be read as the spoken word. I see FB "discussions/chats" often
turn a bit off and poeple get arsey as they reply to messages. Was just reading one on one of my family members yesterday - a discussion turned into
"Who's got a bigger ego" type thing.
So - my vote is no thanks. Log into FB if you like but don't see why we need the link here.

Absolutely, definately no. Please remove it. It has already stopped me being able to access this site at work.
And as for those who say I'm at work to work and shouldn't be accessing the LB site during work hours I would strongly disagree. I work
six days a week, most weekends and pretty much all Bank Holidays. Furthermore I work split shifts, often working 14+ hours a day, particularly at this
time of the year. If I sit down for 10 minutes in the morning with a coffee, or for an hour in the afternoon for a break, why shouldn't I be
able to access this site and relax for a short while?
Incidentally, I also use Facebook, albeit infrequently. If I want to go on FB then I'll log onto the site directly.
Just me 2'd worth.

Sorry boys and girls. Did I ever claim this was a democracy?
I stand by my comments in this post: http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/forum/18/viewthread.php?tid=145625
I'll make a decision early next week as to whether to keep it, ditch it, move it, or something else.
Those that worry about it affecting their ability to browse at work, don't worry. It's loaded in an iframe, essentially a browser window
within a browser window. If your work's firewall blocks facebook all it will do is stop the button from loading, not the rest of the page.

Very strange you say it does not affect Locostbuilders at work
As since 0930-1700 today, while at work today, i was unable to access locostbulders for the very first time
The message, was "The website has been disabled by the ************** team"
******, being my employer
So in other words, now while at work, i am unable to while away my lunchbreak on this site
Progress ?

Steve

Hi Chris,
Sorry mate, but with the greatest respect, I definately can't access the site at work. Well that's not strictly true, I can access the
home page, and I can access each category sector, eg. Chassis, Running Gear, etc. What I can't access is the actual posts. ie. any page with the
Facebook link. In the address bar it says something like 'www.facebook/plugin (then lots of numbers)' and the page itself just says that
I'm not permitted to access this page and to contact our system administrator if I think this is incorrect.
Anyway, as your avatar points out - you're the Boss.
All the best,
Mart.

Yep, sorry Chris although it loads as an iframe it still registers on every page thats loaded and therefore triggers a report to our IT dept saying
you have tried to access a blocked page so it will lead to the site being blocked on our coporate servers very quickly. I know its doing this as its
showing a snippet of our page blocked logo!
So I will be logged off during the day now, and I expect a lot of other people will be the same.

I am the "IT Police" here so know what it is going to do on our systems. Think of it as a one-step-away style block, so while LCB is
"clean", it will be flagged as a bit "dirty" because it loads a page that is dirty - guilty by association.
Nothing against Facebook, but probably better to loose the link.
Tim.
