I'm not sure if you can pick one up for under 10K, but you might with a bit of searching, how about a Skoda Fabia Vrs? Fits 4 people in, and a
bit of a boot too. Looks okay (nice and Chunky!) especially in Black. The best bit is it goes rather well with a 130bhp Tdi diesel engine, and you
are laughing at the fuel pumps too! I can easily get an average of around 60-65 to the gallon and that is hammering it up and down the A55 day in day
out. On a proper country lane thrash it drops down to around 45-50 to the gallon, but it is damn good fun to drive.
Oh, and absolutely nowt has gone wrong with it in 25k miles. cracking car.

Late model 6 speed Fiat Coupe Turbo.
Seats 4 and a reasonable size boot to go with it. I have had mine for 12 months and done 24k miles in it, no problems at all (touch wood) and still
loving every mile.
Also agree about the MG ZS or ZT - both cars I considered but didn't find the right one before finding my Fiat.

Volvo V40 is good, but only a meager 136 bhp on the 2 litre petrol, nice drive though and handles well.
