Dead PC - more help needed
following the windows problems - now it won't turn on at all
its getting standby power to the MB, but it won' turn on (not even when I short the pins)
so I'm guessing that it could be the MB or the PSU ? but I don't really have a way to test them
I'm getting close to giving up with this machine (again)
any suggestions ?

To test the PSU you will need either a second one to try on the MB (easy way) or a multimeter and short the
green wire to the black wire. Then use a multi meter to meter the output from the 12v.

AHH what a mess, you've got a modular power supply, get rid of the unnecessary wires. Mine was nice and tidy but isn't any more. If you
need really detailed help try here such a good knowledge base but I havn't been on there for a few years.

I would get rid of some wires - but they are all powering something
but I think its the PSU - I found another one and swapped it and it worked, but its not got enough to run the thing
