laptop 12v adapter for in car cigarette port

where can i get one from, im thinking of installing a cigarette lighter port in the car so that i can power the laptop whilst out datalogging with MS, does anyone know where i can get one?

Depends on your laptop. A lot run propriatory connectors so universal stuff won't work. If you have one that does, then Maplin sell a few including this one: -

I got one from maplins for my laptop, tried it out today and works great. As for the socket i'd get a marine one, comes with a rubber flap to cover it up when not in use to stop water getting in

That one from ebay will not work as it doesnt have the right connector for the dell. You might be better off finding a tranformer that you can plug the regular charger into.

Do a search on google for "12v dc to 220v ac power inverter"

I beg to differ.

Most laptop PSUs pull 1.5amps plus. Which means you need at least a 350w invertor.

The major downside is that the inverters pull almost 20-25amps at that power so a normal ciggy lighter wont run them.
