Recordable DVD discs

Off topic, but I want to record some car stuff onto DVD.

I have a DVD recorder but there seems to be several kinds of DVD to record onto - what type should I buy?

Many thanks

Cheers Mark

Hiya

It all depends on what your DVD recorder can use. Try this link type in your make and model and it will tell you what sort of media your dvd recorder can write to. Generally speaking it will be either DVD+R or DVD-R. Then if your not fussed about getting the best brand then nip down to Tesco's or ASDA and you can pick up there own brand stuff for not too much.

However if you do want to use quality media then you will be better off going to a local computer shop and buying something reputable like RITEC. I use places like ARIA or SCAN or MICRO Direct but thats because they are in the Manchester and are quite cheep, but they all have websites and deliver for a charge.

Hope this helps

Mike

I get my blanks from here LINKY and I agree go for a high quality disc especially if you going to archive the media. Stay away from Ritek G05 though there life is really crap, Problem is you don't know how good the media really is until it fails, I would record onto dvd then stick it on a hard drive to be sure.

Cheers

Rich

Bit of a mine-field. Some DVD recorders are very choosy about what they'll accept. Other players will accept most discs....

I personally like Verbatim DVD +Rs as they work in most DVD players IME....

AFAIK DVD+Rs tend to be readable in more different players
