FREE printer drivers wanted
Im having trouble with my epson stylus Photo R245 printer.
It began to print very faintly then we gave up on it and its been sat for 6 months, i got some new non gen cartridges and it wont print at all now, it
makes all the right noises but no ink comes out on the paper.
I have gone through the clean and check process about 5 times to no avail.
Through my trawl on the net i found a forum that suggested uninstalling the driver then re installing it.
I have un installed it and went to get the installation CD from my special place where i keep ALL my software CD's and yep you've guessed
it, it aint there.
I have looked on the net and all i can find is what at first appears to be free drivers then it turns out you need to register for x y and z or
upgrade from standard to premium at a cost of $X and all that crap.
Im sure there used to be loads fo free drivers knocking about before?
And whats with making you install all this shyte that checks for most recent drivers on you machine, Fork off all i want to do is download a bastard
driver.
Im getting a little stressed now after 2 hours of fecking about so i have opened a bottle of red and im hoping for some words of encouragement /
advice from you knoledgable lot.
Dont let me down!
Cheers
ATB

If it's the usual Epson problem then the ink heads will have dried up. Changing the cartridge doesn't help as the head is fixed to the
printer.

^^ What Ben Said ^^
Heads will have dried up. You have several choices, you can try to clean them like you have but instead of doing it 5 times in a row do it one time a
day over several days. This will allow the new ink to soften what is in the head and sometimes it clears. Alternatively, if you still have your old
cartridges, you can refill them with printer cleaner and try cleaning that way.

Just go out a buy a cheap HP printer and you will never suffer from blocked nozzles again. -- it really isn't worth the hassle.

As above, nowt do with drivers I dont know the printer but somewhere on the back of the machine there should be an access door take that off, look
inside and you should see a plastic tube going from below the print head tray check that isnt blocked otherwise it wont clean the print nozzles
properly.
Ive found Epsons are fine if you use them daily otherwise they clog up like no-ones business.

Bob

Blocked heads are right nightmare - I got rid of my Epson for this reason.
I now swear by Canon printers - cheaper ink and it lasts longer too!

That's mad. I bet if you wanted to buy the packaging materials, for some other use, they would cost almost as much! It hardly encourages
greenness either.
