OT... Random FTP connection problems...
This is starting to drive me nuts... can anoyone help?
I have been building a couple of websites on my home PC... using dreamweaver CS4 to FTP the files to the site...
It worked fine yesterday... but today when I start up the PC it simply wont establish an FTP connection... the same happens when I use fire FTp, it
just tells me that it cant connect....
Tried it with a couple of different FTP accounts... and nothing..
No settings have changed since yesterday!!! My firewall on my PC and network is set to allow port 21 (for FTP)...
This is driving me nuts... what else could be stopping the FTP connection?

Would the last person who leaves the country please switch off the lights and close the door!

Have you tried FTP outside of Dreamweaver?
See if you can connect to the FTP site in Explorer or via the FTP application in Windows to verify the connection.
If it fails to connect it should give you a reason.

Got any other machines to test from? could be your ISP being crap. (not likely, but possible)

maybe your isp is port throttling, or just arsing about with there firewalls. Try again tomorrow.

Tried it with Fire FTP (the firefox FTP addon)...
This happened before, I cant remeber what I did to resolve it... but its annoying...
I will leave it till 2mo and see what happens.... its just so frustrating... I changed the name servers for one of my business websites and now cant
upload the site to the new server.... NOT good!

Might just be taking a while for the changes to propagate? should take less than 24 hours.

Try using a proper standalone FTP client like Filezilla (open source) rather than a web browser or browser clag on.
Can you ping it etc?

If you have changes the nameservers it probably going to a wrong address.
Ping the address and see if its going to the correct IP.
You could also try connecting to the correct IP instead of the domain name.
Or if it is your ISP try using a web basedftp client like www.xftp.co.uk
