Reason to complain? - Ebay
I brought a wing cover from ebay last week
(linky), But when it arrived, there was no magnetic strip on
it.
The ebay listing doesnt specificly say it is magnetic but the packaging does.
I have emailed the seller but have had no reply after a week.
Can i report it through paypal as item significantly not as described?
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Hmm like you say though he doesn't say it was magnetic. Technically I don't think e-bay can do anything about it, unfortunately
I know the box says it should but that’s just classed as packaging, like me getting model plane parts in old food boxes etc it’s the advert that
counts. Bit of a bummer but have a look in B&Q or on the web for magnetic strips, or just pull them out a scrap fridge door seal.
Fame is when your old car is plastered all over the internet

I would have to say that if the listing does not mention it, you would stuggle to win a "not as described" dispute.
But I am known to be wrong on occasion. (just ask my wife)!!!!
Something about this, so very wrong.....I have to laugh out loud, I wish I didn`t like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another rogue on Ebay.
Making use of the distance away from the customer and the uselessness of Ebay as a means of getting what you intended.

OK, ebay will probably not side with you as they only care about the wording of an aution matching the product. But this person is a business seller,
and they are covered by the distance seller regulations, see the bottom of their auction page. And that means if they sell an item thats not fit for
purpose (ie a magnetic wing cover thats not got a magnet) then they have to accept the item for a refund. But you will have to fork out for the return
postage. So its going to be cheaper just to modify it yourself.
And you could leave a negative comment saying its not magnetic, but the seller could get the negative removed as their auction does not say its
magnetic, even though it should be.
Aren't ebay great?

Hang on, have I logged onto the wrong forum? I thought the whole ethos of Locost Builders was to make things ourselves? You BOUGHT a wing cover? Shame
on you, haven't you got an old curtain, or a tarpaulin lying about you could have used?

well, you bought it from the description on ebay, not from seeing the packaging. the item is exaclty as described by ebay, you're on to
plums...
if the packaging says its magnetic, you should take it up with the manufacturer

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I'd say report it and make sure you confirm they havent responded. As said, distance selling regulations apply as they are a trader and if its
supposed to be magnetic and isnt then clearly not fit for purpose. See if you can send Ebay a picture of the packaging confirming you have been sent
faulty goods. The auction description will be irrelevant if the item is faulty.
