Domain Name Scam Warning!

I very nearly fell foul of a scam today
For anyone on here who has their own web domain registered (either personal or for work), I thought I'd better warn you about 'Domain Renewal Group'.
I had an official letter/payment slip through the post advising me my '.com' registration was about to expire and giving me various ways of paying to renew it. All looked above board, until I was about to pay on-line and something in the back of my head told me 'is this for real?'.
Anyway, quick check on google and it's clear these are scam merchants. They use the 'who is' database to get names and address for domains coming up to renewal and then send you this letter
Reading the letter more carefully, it does say it's to transfer your registration to them from your current registrar, but it's worded in such a way as to be misconstrued, especially if read quickly.
Apparently, though, some people say they don't even do this – just take your money.
I'm off now to fill the return envelope with sand, or something equally heavy and post it without a stamp.

Thanx for the heads up!

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

The nice thing to do would be to collect those kebab shop leaflets and windows stuff that comes in the newspaper and send that to them.

Round here there's a plentiful supply of cat poo, I'll be using some of that next time
