Cant get rid off Temporary Directories

Win 7 is writing temporary directories to my D drive when installing updates etc with obscure names like "80f8de584865eea29a" and leaving them there.

They have a padlock in Windows explorer and as "User" with full administration rights I am unable to delete them or even when right clicking the directory and re-setting properties/ security to give full rights am still unable to delete them.

Anybody know any way of getting rid of them as they are just plain annoying and are starting to proliferate (there are 3 so far)

do what I did and install xp instead, Vista sucked so much and I'm not surprised 7 is just a pain too, I just couldn't put up with it any more. £35 for xp and it’s a dream machine now Even for a £400 budget laptop xp has it running my flight sims so fast I'm finally able to use all the scenery options fantastic

I hope you are wrong as I have just found a way to do it - install a small utility called "Take Ownership" and I removed them with it.

Doesn't make sense that roll back files would be written to the "D" drive rather than "C" drive but then when was Microsoft sensible.

You have something to hide for your wife/girlfriend because you desperately want to delete these folders ?

Can't help you though. I'm still using XP, never even tried to use Vista or 7.

You should try Linux! Someone had to say it...

But Linux has loads of system directories - just that you can't see them normally (any directory with a name that starts with a . such as ".fred" is hidden). If you open a directory and type Ctrl-h then dozens of directories appear!

So, the question is - why couldn't Microsoft make these temp directories invisible?
